Governor Deval Patrick has announced more than $9 million in life-science grants for Western Mass. Nearly $4 million will help create a Center for Life Sciences at Holyoke Community College. $4.5 million will pump up the Green High Performance Computing Center in Holyoke to support life science research. Another half million will renovate science labs at six area high schools. Speaking at HCC, Patrick said education and brain power are the Commonwealth's signature resources.
