There's not much support in Western Mass for reinstating happy hour drink specials. The Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission heard from a range of stakeholders in Northampton Tuesday. Restaurant owners said allowing the drink discounts would result in a race to the bottom that would be bad for business. Public safety officials said it would contribute to more drunk driving. And a nurse cautoned about giving support to alcoholism. The hearings are being held because the three casinos that will eventually go up in Massachusetts will be allowed to offer deep drink discounts to their patrons.
