UMass Cancels Outdoor Evening Activities Ban

(Amherst, MA) –┬áThe ban on evening outdoor activities at UMass is being lifted today. The ban had been in effect since mid-August when the risk level for Eastern Equine Encephalitis in Amherst was elevated to high. That followed the death of two horses in neighboring Belchertown. Earlier this week, Amherst town officials decided to end the local ban on nighttime outdoor activities because of the cooler weather limiting mosquito activity.
