The body of a man who fell into the Connecticut River in Hadley Monday night has been recovered. A man was reported missing by a companion after they had been picnicking on a pontoon boat. A South Hadley Fire Department diver located his body approximately 13 feet below the surface, some 25 feet from where he was seen falling off a dock at Sportsman’s Marina, in Hadley. Hadley and South Hadley Fire Departments, Hadley Police, Amherst Fire Department ambulance, the Massachusetts State Police Dive Team, Massachusetts State Police and MSP assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office responded. The DA’s office says the death remains under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious in nature. The name is being withheld until all family members are notified.
