MassDevelopment wants to begin environmental cleanup at the former Belchertown State School. But the Patrick administration is holding onto $10 million allocated for the job in 2008. Senator Gail Candaras says since the state created the contamination at the site, it’s the state’s responsibility to clean it up. She and other lawmakers are lobbying for the release of $2 million this year so the work can get underway.
