Disgraced Chemist Fails Drug Test

(Northampton, MA) — Bail has been revoked for indicted state chemist Sonja Farak after the 35-year-old Northampton woman failed a drug test. Farak worked at the state drug lab at UMass Amherst until she was arrested a year ago. She was charged with evidence tampering and theft after police were alerted to discrepancies in the lab’s drug inventory. Farak has been sent back to jail while awaiting trial.
