Easthampton Mayor Michael Tautznik has been named a “Housing Hero” by the Mass Housing Partnership. The group works with state government to increase affordable housing, and says Tautznik has championed many affordable housing projects during his 17 years as mayor. Tautznik was one of only three people in the state to win the honor, and says he’s proud Easthampton has had success with affordable housing.
The plan, which also mandates a shift to renewable energy from coal-fired electricity, is meant to put the U.S. in a strong position at international talks in Paris later this year on reaching a deal to curb global warming.
