(Northampton, MA) — Human parking garage attendants are back in Northampton for now. Starting today, attendants will collect a flat fee of four dollars from those entering the downtown garage during business hours, and five dollars after 5:00 p.m. Mayor Narkewicz ordered the stopgap measure because the automatic card-reading system and gate at the garage remains broken. While replacement parts have been on backorder, motorists have been parking for free.
