(Westfield, MA) — State Rep Don Humason has been elected as the new State Senator from the Hampden and Hampshire 2nd District. The Westfield Republican defeated Holyoke Democrat David Bartley by a 51-to-49-percent margin. Humason will take the seat formerly held by Mike Knapik, who left for a job with Westfield State University. Humason was Knapik’s chief of staff before being elected to the House.
The former technology executive announced on Twitter that she is suspending her campaign.
