Mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis have been found in the Pioneer Valley. The West Nile infected mosquitoes were found in Northampton and those with Triple-E were found in Amherst. People are asked to drain any standing water on their property and are urged to take precautions like wearing long pants and sleeves and putting on insect-repellent to avoid being bitten. So far there have been no human cases of either West Nile or Triple-E in Western Mass this year.
