(Chicopee, MA) — A former coal barn in downtown Chicopee has been destroyed in a massive fire. Flames broke out Monday afternoon at the structure off Ames Street. Witnesses heard an explosion around 2:45 p.m. and the large building was quickly engulfed. There were no reported injuries. The cause is under investigation.
Close to $4 million dollars in state money is being made available to clean up the former Belchertown State School property.
