City Council Revolts Against Removal of Benches

The Northampton City Council is revolting against the decision by the mayor to remove six downtown benches.  The benches were removed at the urging of the Business Improvement District, reportedly to curtail loitering, or some say, panhandling.  A straw poll shows most council members wanted the benches put back, and planned to take up the matter at their meeting Thursday.
