Nursing Home Developer Shot Dead

(Northampton, MA) — A man who built a number of nursing homes in the Pioneer Valley has been found shot dead in his home. 87-year-old John Chakalos of Windsor, Connecticut was found shot in the head December 20th, and police are treating his death as a homicide. Chakalos developed Linda Manor in Leeds, Elaine Manor in Hadley, and Charlene Manor in Greenfield. He co-developed Bear Hill Estates on Bridge Road with Pat Goggins. An assisted living community under construction in Leeds is another Chakalos project.
