(Palmer, MA) — Voters in Palmer have rejected a proposal by Mohegan Sun to build a billion-dollar resort casino off the Mass Pike. The plan went down by a margin of only 93 votes. Mohegan says it will request a hand recount because of technical problems with a voting machine in one of the precincts. If the “No” vote is upheld, MGM in Springfield will be the sole contender for the one gaming license to be awarded in Western Massachusetts.
