A 23-year old Southampton man faces multiple charges after allegedly leading police on an eight-town chase. Thomas Pitoniak refused to pull over in South Hadley, and was chased by police into Granby, Belchertown, Amherst, Hadley Northampton, Easthampton, and finally Southampton. He was finally nabbed on Route 10 near the Southampton Country Club just after midnight Wednesday morning. Pitoniak has a lengthy rap sheet, including convictions for stolen property, assault and battery, breaking and entering and malicious destruction.
The Northwestern District Attorney's office says the body was found near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge, connecting South Hadley and neighboring Holyoke.
The injured were taken to Baystate Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
