Summit House Porch Almost Done

(South Hadley, MA) — The Summit House at Skinner State Park could open again as soon as next week. The historic building with the wrap-around porch perched on top of the Holyoke Range has been closed for repairs since 2010. Part of the delay had to do with a composite lumber initially chosen for the deck that couldn’t hold paint or withstand wet weather. The auto road to the Summit House will stay open until November 11th, but hikers and bikers can travel to the popular landmark at any time.
