(Amherst, MA) — UMass will introduce Mark Whipple as its new football coach on Thursday. Whipple was head coach of the Minutemen from ’98 to 2003 where he amassed a winning record and led UMass to the 1-AA championship in ’98. He went on to become a quarterback coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Whipple replaces Charley Molnar, who was let go in December after an abysmal two seasons.
