Walmart Cancels Holyoke Plans

(Holyoke, MA) — Walmart has withdrawn its plans to build a SuperCenter in Holyoke. The company said preliminary testing revealed environmental concerns about the proposed site on Whiting Farms Road. They say more tests won’t be possible before the deadline to finalize the purchase from Holyoke Gas & Electric. The company’s spokesman says WalMart is still interested in Western Mass.
