(Conway, MA) — The Red Cross is assisting after a number of major fires in Western Mass. Friday afternoon, a home on Briar Hill Road in Ashfield and a trailer on Main Poland Road in Conway went up in flames, displacing a total of nine people. Sunday morning, a large storage building in New Salem burned in a spectacular blaze. Also Sunday, a building in Orange caught fire, displacing eleven disabled elderly residents. In West Springfield, seven people are homeless after a Sunday afternoon fire on Fairview Ave.
