Wofa to Perform African Drum and Dance Lessons Learned in Guinea

(South Hadley, MA) – Members of Wofa, the African Drum and Dance Company of the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Public Charter School in South Hadley, MA traveled for three weeks to the West African country of Guinea, home of their teacher and mentor, Alpha Kabisko Kaba, affectionately known as Bisko.  There, the students trained daily with local artists in traditional drumming and dancing, and gained knowledge of and love for the Guinean culture and people.  In the weeks since their return, Wofa has been working to craft the lessons learned in Guinea into a new show to be performed at the Academy of Music in Northampton on April 11th and 12th:  Tales from Guinea, featuring the premiere of Sona the Orphan.
