LOS ANGELES (AP) — It’s a sad rule about the death of musicians: it’s great for sales.

Billboard reports sales of music by Lou Reed and by Velvet Underground have spiked since his death.

Reed sold about 1,000 copies of his albums the week before he died and about 3,000 in the week ending Sunday, the day he died. That’s a 607 percent increase.

EXTRA: Rocker Lou Reed dies at 71

Velvet Underground sales went up 236 percent.

Billboard analyzes data by the week, so it’s likely Reed will see even bigger increases in the full week after his death, which will show up in next week’s data.
