(Amherst, MA) – The latest racial incident to come to light in Amherst schools will be the subject of a meeting called by the vice chair of the Amherst-Pelham Regional School Committee. Trevor Baptiste says the meeting will be held Monday at 4 pm in the Pelham Library. Baptiste has expressed anger over the reprimand of fellow commitee member Amilcar Shabazz by other school board officials. Shabazz had referred to a white student, reportedly assaulted by three students of color, as being a racist.
