(Northampton, MA) – The Northampton Business Improvement District will take a renewal vote next week. The vote is required because of a new state law that makes it impossible for downtown property owners to opt out of the BID. Three months ago the City Council agreed to cut fees in half for BID members. The June 9 vote is only open to property owners who are already members of the BID. The BID’s right to exist is being challenged in state and federal court.
