(Easthampton, MA) — The Easthampton City Council has authorized Mayor Karen Cadieux to sell the former Parsons Street School to a private developer. Cadieux will work with her top aides to develop an RFP based upon recommendations set by the City Council. The historic brick school building in the New City neighborhood is 112 years old.
The plan, which also mandates a shift to renewable energy from coal-fired electricity, is meant to put the U.S. in a strong position at international talks in Paris later this year on reaching a deal to curb global warming.
