School Board OKs Budget Amidst Protests

(Holyoke, MA)  –  Holyoke School Superintendent Sergio Paez is facing outrage from protesters. Last night it was standing room only at a special school board meeting.  Paez says job cuts are needed to bridge a four-and-a-half million-dollar budget gap. English teacher Gus Morales did not have his contract renewed. The president-elect of the Holyoke Teachers Union claims the firing was done out of retaliation because Morales complained about publishing student test scores.
