(Amherst, MA) — UMass students will rally today in support of basketball player Derek Gordon and other members of the gay and lesbian community. The action will coincide with an expected protest by the Westboro Baptist Church. The ultra-conservative group scheduled a demonstration on campus the day after Gordon came out as gay. Students under the banner “UMass United” plan to meet in front of the Fine Arts Center at 11:30 a.m. and march to the Student Union.
