Taylor Swift leads CMA nominees

Taylor Swift is to do battle for the Country Music Association’s coveted Entertainer of the Year title once again after landing a nomination for the top honor at the 2013 prizegiving.

Swift is a previous winner of the trophy, but lost out at last year’s ceremony to Blake Shelton.

However, she is in with another chance at the 2013 awards show after she was announced as a contender alongside Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, George Strait and Shelton when the first round of nominees was unveiled on Tuesday.

Swift will also compete for the Female Vocalist award with Kelly Clarkson, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves and Carrie Underwood, while Shelton leads the Male Vocalist category with Aldean and Bryan, as well as Eric Church and Keith Urban.

Other categories which were announced by Sheryl Crow and country duo Florida Georgia Line, included Vocal Duo of the Year, which will be a fight between Big & Rich, Love and Theft, Sugarland, The Civil Wars and Thompson Square. The announcers, Florida Georgia Line, will also compete in the category.

The New Artist will be a fight between Lee Brice, Brett Eldredge, Florida Georgia Line, Kip Moore and Kacey Musgraves.

The rest of the nominations will be announced later. The Country Music Association Awards will take place on 6 November.
