Country music veteran Loretta Lynn has reportedly been caught in a lie after recently obtained documents appear to show the singer is three years older than she had claimed.
In her tome, Coal Miner's Daughter, the singer revealed she wed her longtime husband Oliver Lynn, Jr. at the tender age of 13, however, copies of the veteran's birth and marriage certificate - obtained by The Associated Press - suggest otherwise.
According to the papers, Lynn was born on 14 April, 1932 and she married just days shy of her 16th birthday, making the icon 80 years old, not 77 as was previously believed.
The error in Lynn's memoir has caused many to question its authenticity but the Grammy Award winner has since refused to address the speculation and a statement, released through her spokesperson Nancy Russell, reads,"If anyone asks how old I am, tell them it's none of their business!"
After the book was released in 1976, Coal Miner's Daughter went on to become an Academy Award-winning film in 1980, and the autobiography is to be converted into a Broadway musical.
