Greenfield's mayor calls charges that he wants the town's police and fire chiefs positions removed from Civil Service so he can hire his friends and family, ludicrous.  Mayor William Martin calls that a paranoid diversion, and says his only goal is to see the police department run efficiently.  The mayor's comments come as the town continues its search for a new police cief.  Martin says the Public Safety Commission will revisit the Civil Service issue at the end of the month.
