Northampton Losing Greyhound, Green Cab Services
Greyhound is ending its service at the Peter Pan Bus terminal in Northampton later this month. The national bus line says it intends to end service to five stops along I-91, including Northampton and Greenfield, as well as Brattleboro and Bellows Falls Vermont, and Keene New Hampshire. The Northampton service will end June 20th. A Greyhound spokesman blames low ridership in the area.
Meantime, The Green Cab Company, an off-shoot of Peter Pan Buslines in Springfield, will end operations at midnight tonight, according to Northamptonmedia.com. The website reports that Green Cab, which ran a fleet of hybrid taxis and vans serving Northampton and Amherst, will stop doing business after only 20 months in operation. The decision to close down leaves only one cab company operating in Northampton.
