Southampton's former Fire CHief says he was totally surprised when the Select Board voted last week not to renew his contract.  Stephen Hyde tells the Gazette, board members gave him no indication that they weren't happy with his performance.  The minutes of last week's meeting between Hyde and the board provice no detials of why he was dismissed.  Board members will only say publicly, they wanted to go with new leadership.
