Van Halen scrap postponed summer shows

Van Halen has cancelled its postponed summer tour dates, according to a U.S. report.

The group announced in May it was axing 30 dates following its June 26 concert in New Orleans prompting speculation the bandmates were not getting along.

Group leader Eddie Van Halen dismissed the gossip, explaining, "We bit off more than we could chew... We went on tour earlier than we wanted to so we could play (New York's) Madison Square Garden (before a renovation), and that threw the schedule out of whack."

He insisted the band would pick up where it left off later on in the year - but now the delayed gigs have seemingly been axed.

Music website Pollstar.com claims many of the tour dates, including stops in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Detroit, Michigan, are now listed in red as cancelled on the Ticketmaster agency website.
