Northampton Rail Advisory Committee to Hold First Meeting
High speed passenger rail service from Connecticut to Vermont will be a reality, according to Tim Brennan, Executive Director of the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission. Brennan says trains will link New York with cities in Connecticut, and in Massachusetts, including Northampton and Greenfield, with Vermont, and eventually Montreal. Brennan and officials with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation will be in Northampton Monday night to meet with the city's new Passenger Rail Advisory Committee. That group was established by Mayor David Narkewicz to hel guide the return of passenger rail service to the Valley. Tonight is the committee's inaugural meeting.
