Amherst is Named a Green Community

Amherst will get more than$300,000 for energy improvements after being named by the state as a Green Community.  The town became one of 17 new communities to join the program yesterday, along with Huntington, Pelham, and Sunderland.  The Governor's office estimates 44 percent of Massachusetts residents now live in a Green Community.  Those cities and towns are eligible for grants for local renewable power and energy efficiency projects.
