The former coordinator of an Amherst soup kitchen has been acquitted of charges in connection with a theft case. 57 year old Donald Perry was arrested last summer following break-ins to a home and a car in Leverett. Perry was arrested after a resident whose I-Pad was stolen, told police about a tracking device in it. Police stopped his car in Northampton and found the stolen I-Pad and a laptop. The defense claimed a homeless man had left the items in his car. Perry ran the "Not Bread Alone" meal site at the First Congregational Church in Amherst until his arrest. It's not clear if he'll return to his job.
