Northampton Boards Violated Open Meeting Law
Northampton's City Council and School Committee have both violated the state's Open Meeting Law. That's according to the Attorney General's office, which has ruled that the last time the City Council met behind closed doors about a year ago, and when the School Committee met in executive session to discuss contract negotiations with school employees, neither board was "sufficiently specific" to inform the pubilc about what they were talking about. The rulings came in response to complaints from the Gazette, and are prompting changes in how the meetings are publicized.
