A man accused of trying to strangle his girlfriend in Hatfield has been indicted for attempted murder.  The incident happened in June when police responded to a 911 call from the woman in her home in Hatfield.  An officer says he witnessed 46-year old Brian Smithof Agawam trying to choke the woman before he ran.  State Police, using helicopters and dogs, tracked him down.  The woman had previously taken out four restraining orders against Smith.
