The Pedal People will continue to pick up trash and recycling in Northampton's downtown area for at least another year.  Mayor David Narkewicz renewed the city's contract with the trash-hauling bicycle company Thursday.  He tells WHMP news, the renewal speaks to the city's approach to being sustainable and green.  And, it's also an affordable trash pick-up option, because the Pedal People aren't subject to fluctuating fuel costs.  What's more, Narkewicz says the Pedal People are easy on the city's streets, and are quieter than noisy garbage trucks.
