Condemned Farm Worker Housing Tear Down Halted
The condemned housing used by Mexican farm workers at the Chang Farm in Whately won't be demolished at least for now. A housing court judge has halted the teardown, saying the tenants should have the right to weigh in on whether the buildings should be brought up to code instead. Under a consent order, the Chang Farm is paying for hotel rooms for the migrant workers. Last month, the state condemned two bunkhouses in Deerfeld and Whately, saying they're unit for human habitation.
