The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland was one of the structures damaged by former Hurricane Sandy on Monday night - the storm destroyed siding on the upper levels of the museum.

High winds and torrential rain lashed the city and locals feared the waterfront music shrine would be badly damaged as Sandy passed through.

But Lake Eerie didn't rise over flood walls, which would have led to disaster, and winds only stripped plates from the upper levels of the hall.

Officials insist none of the damage was structural and the Hall of Fame had a lucky escape.

The museum was even open for business on Tuesday.
