Amherst school officials are looking at a disparity in racial diversity between students and staff. A report presented to the school committee Tuesday night shows nearly 42 percent of students in the Amherst schools were non-white, while only about 15 percent of the staff were non-white. But the report also shows that among non-urban school districts, Amherst schools have the highest percentage of non-white staff in the state. Human Resources Director Kathryn Mazur says they have a lot more work to do.
