Easthampton Woman Awarded Prize for Foster Care Innovation
An Easthampton woman committed to re-envisioning foster care has received a genius grant of sorts from the AARP. 61-year old Judy Cockerton is the founder of Treehouse, an intergenerational housing development that brings together adoptive families, foster kids and the elderly in an atmosphere of mutual support. Cockerton will receive the $100,000 Purpose Prize for Intergenerational Innovation. She's one of five recipients nationwide.
