Senate Panel Recommends Kerry for Secretary of State
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee is recommending full Senate confirmation of John Kerry as Secretary of State. Kerry is set to replace Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is stepping down after four years on the job. Kerry has chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee since 2009. Full Senate confirmation is expected. Governor Deval Patrick Wednesday will name an interim successor, and a special election to fill Kerry's seat has been set for June 25th.
