Northampton is hoping for federal aid to help pay for costly dam repairs.  The Public Works Department says the city faces an estimated $14.7 million in repairs to its network of dams.  But the dam work is only one of the expensive upgrades needed to the city's infrastructure.  The DPW assessment shows the need for multi-million dollar capital improvements across all of its systems.  The dam work is needed so they can withstand big storms.
