A public hearing is set for September 30 on a proposal to pull another 20 million gallons of water a day from the Quabbin Reservoir for eastern Massachusetts. The request would increase withdrawals by about 10 percent, drawing opposition from western Massachusetts lawmakers as Quabbin levels remain down more than 11 feet since spring 2024. The hearing will be at Belchertown Town Hall.
