Amherst officials are starting to shape what could replace Hampshire College after the school closes — with housing emerging as a top priority. The town is studying new zoning for the 632-acre campus that could allow mixed-income and multigenerational homes, businesses and public recreation while protecting farmland and sensitive habitat. A community listening session is set for September 22, with a design workshop September 24.
