Two Amherst landmarks are getting a major boost from the state. The Jones Library and the Amherst Historical Society have been awarded nearly 300-thousand dollars combined through the state Cultural Facilities Fund. The money will help create a new Civil War display room at the library and fund structural and accessibility repairs at the historic Simeon Strong House.
