No Need for Proposed Natural Gas Pipeline says GDF Suez Report

A new report released this week, commissioned by the France based energy company GDF Suez claims that there is no need for a new natural gas pipeline in Massachusetts. The study claims that, rather than a lack of capacity to carry additional natural gas when consumers need it the most, liquefied natural gas could be stored and used strategically when natural gas is at peak demand, calling it dual-fuel capability. The GDF Suez study calls it, “a failure to more fully utilize existing energy infrastructure and not an indicator of insufficient pipeline capacity.” GDF Suez operates the Northfield Pumped storage hydroelectric station, which would be impacted by the Kinder Morgan pipeline.
