Several Franklin and Hampshire County fire departments are getting a boost for wildfire response and training. The state says Volunteer Fire Capacity grants are going to Buckland, Colrain, Leverett, Montague Center, Pelham, Shelburne, South Deerfield, South Hadley, Wendell and Williamsburg, among others. The money comes from the U.S. Forest Service and is administered by the state DCR, helping smaller departments buy equipment, train firefighters and prepare for a longer wildfire season.
