Voters in six Franklin County communities will decide October 6 whether to create a new regional school district combining Gill-Montague and Pioneer Valley schools, with Warwick potentially joining as well. The proposed Great River Regional School District would keep elementary students in their current schools, move middle school students to Pioneer, and educate high school students in Turners Falls. The plan calls for consolidating central administration, but no reduction in teaching staff.
